When our representatives are making important
decisions that impact all of our lives I believe it is important to ask
one basic question before making
those decisions, Is this good for
the children? Just imagine what our world would be
like if that question was asked prior to making decisions about going to
war, the environment, education or healthcare.

1. Commentary by
our Host, Elaine B. Holtz:
Hello everybody and welcome to
Women’s Spaces. My name is
Elaine B. Holtz, and I am your
host. With me at the board is my
friend, partner and engineer,
Ken Norton. Good morning, Ken.
For Todays show we are doing the
second show of our new segment,
Men’s Spaces. Last Tuesday, Ken
interviewed Dr. Kieran Fox, the
author of the newly published
book I Am a Part of Infinity –
The Spiritual Journey of Albert
Einstein, and we present that
interview today.
What is so interesting about
this interview and book is it
was inspired by a lot of the
information found in the book
Einstein and the Poet - In
Search of the Cosmic Man by Dr.
William Hermanns. Dr. Hermanns
was a mentor to Ken, and Ken
assisted him with editing and
preparing the book for
publication and is mentioned
several times in Dr. Fox’s newly
published book.

2.
Men's Spaces - Ken Norton
interviews author Dr. Kieran
Fox:
In this Men’s Spaces interview,
host Ken Norton
speaks with Dr.
Kieran Fox, neuroscientist and
author of I Am a Part of
Infinity: The Spiritual Journey
of Albert Einstein. The
conversation explores Einstein’s
rarely examined spiritual
worldview, which Fox argues was
central to his thinking.
Inspired early by Spinoza’s
concept of mind-body unity and
exposed to meditation and
Eastern philosophy in high
school, Fox’s spiritual journey
eventually led him to Buddhist
monasteries before entering
neuroscience and medicine. While
researching another book on the
neuroscience of spirituality,
Fox encountered Einstein’s
quotes on unity and
interconnectedness, prompting
him to shift focus and explore
Einstein’s spiritual influences
in depth.
Fox accessed Einstein’s personal
library, discovering heavily
annotated texts like the Tao Te
Ching and Greek philosophical
works. These findings
highlighted Einstein’s broad
intellectual curiosity and deep
engagement with ideas of harmony
and oneness. Fox traces these
themes through the influence of
Spinoza, Pythagoras,
Schopenhauer, and Eastern
thinkers like Tagore, placing
Einstein within a long lineage
of scientists—from Newton to
Kepler—who viewed mathematics as
a language of universal truth.
Einstein viewed science and
spirituality not as opposites
but as deeply intertwined
Reflecting on the impact of
writing the book, Fox describes
it as a culmination of 20 years
of study, immersing himself in
Einstein’s spiritual worldview,
particularly ideas of unity and
pantheism—which inspired Fox to
move beyond intellectual
exploration and into direct
spiritual experience, often
while walking in nature. These
moments brought a profound sense
of interconnectedness, akin to
what Einstein called a “cosmic
religious feeling.” He
acknowledges criticism from
Einstein scholars but stands by
the book’s intellectual rigor
and spiritual insights. Norton,
who assisted William Hermanns
in
editing and publishing his book
Einstein and the Poet, affirms
Fox’s interpretation, noting its
alignment with Hermans’ personal
conversations with Einstein. The
two explore Einstein’s strong
ethical compass—his unwavering
commitment to conscience over
conformity. The interview
concludes with a discussion of
Einstein’s internal conflict
over pacifism and war, and his
lifelong burden over the atomic
bomb’s creation. Both Norton and
Fox emphasize the importance of
preserving and exploring
Einstein’s spiritual legacy.
About our Guest Dr.
Kieran Fox: Kieran
Fox, MD, PhD, studied medicine
at Stanford University and holds
a doctorate in
cognitive
neuroscience from the University
of British Columbia. He is a
physician-scientist at the
University of California San
Francisco, where his research
centers on the neural mechanisms
and therapeutic potential of
meditation practices and
psychedelic medicines. He lives
in San Francisco. I Am a
Part of Infinity is his
first book.
